Film italien à sketches. Le mien est avec Claude Rich et Walter Chiari . Le tournage se déroule à Rio de Janeiro. Brésil. Nous arriverons à la fin du célèbre carnaval ! C’est encore chaud ! très chaud !!! Je trouve Rio, la baie de Rio, le « Copacabana palace » les gens, absolument tout magique … Je fais la connaissance du jeune musicien encore presque inconnu qui fait la musique du film : Antonio Carlos Jobim. On commence à entendre « samba sur une seule note » un peu partout. Il m’entraîne chez lui, me joue de la guitare, du piano, chante pour moi seule ses nouvelles chansons que je trouve toutes merveilleuses. Je suis fascinée. On ne se quitte plus. Avec lui, je connaîtrai son meilleur ami Vinitius de Moraes et Juan Gilberto, encore peu connu lui aussi, que j’emmènerai avec moi jusqu’à San Paolo pour une émission de télé en essayant de communiquer mon enthousiasme au public. Je le trouve génial. Et Astrud Gilberto sa femme à l’époque. Et Baden Powell et Dorival Caymmi !
Pour mon ame de musicienne, cela reste toujours un des plus beaux moments de ma vie. Le film, lui, ne m’a laisé aucun souvenir. Nous faisons de la musique jour et nuit, il n’y a que ça qui compte. Je fais mon travail et dès que j’ai fini, je cours retrouver la bande qui n’arrête pas de créer, de composer. Tous les jours j’entends des rythmes étonnants, de nouvelles mélodies qui m’enchantent…
La nuit sur la plage à Rio … une guitare, des bougies, la mer, les vagues qui s’écrasent mollement sur le sable encore chaud. Il est impossible de ne pas être follement amoureux de Rio. Je rentre à Paris la mort dans l’âme et je n’oublierai jamais.
An Italian sketch film. My sketch is with Claude Rich and Walter Chiari. The shooting occured in Rio de Janeiro. We just arrived at the end of the carnival. But it was still hot, very hot! I found everything magic : Rio, the Rio’s bay, the Copacabana Palace, the people…
I met a young musician almost unknown who was in charge of the music for the film. His name: Antonio Carlos Jobim. We start to listen “Samba in a single note” everywhere. He invited me at his home and he played guitar, piano and sang just for me his new songs that I found wonderful. I was fascinated. We always stayed together. With him, I met his friends, Vinitius de Moraes and Juan Gilberto, still unknown too and that I brought with me to Sao Paulo to promote him in a TV show and share my enthusiasm for him with the audience. He was a genius. There were also his wife of the moment, Astrud Gilberto and Baden Powell! And Dorival Caymi !
For my musician soul, all of this still remains as one of the most beautiful period of my life. I have no memory of the film but only of the music we played each night and day. Only that mattered, finally. When I finished working on the set, I ran away to find my new friends who spent all their time to create and compose. I listened every day these surprising rhythms and new melodies which enchanted myself.
The night spent on the Rio’s beach with guitars, candles, the sea and waves which crashed on the hot sand. Impossible not to fall deeply in love with Rio. I went back to Paris with a dying heart. I can never forget these blessed days.
